"It is a feeling as of something limitless, unbounded--as it were, 'oceanic'."
- Sigmund Freud, in "Civilization and Its Discontents"
Ladies and gentlemen, be hold, I am alive! After endless days of inactivity, I present to you my humble attempt of visualizing Romain Rolland's notion of the oceanic feeling (of which Freud responded to in his book mentioned above). I understand that the oceanic feeling was discussed in terms of religion and its effects on the mind, but my goal was not to tackle the religious aspect of the definition. What I wanted was simply a visualization of the feeling of "oneness", of serenity and the embodiment of a vast limitless. This is what I've finalized, and I hope that this visualization does the term at least some justice.

Gorgeous. I love what this represents! It's funny because I've been thinking a lot lately about this oceanic feeling. I didn't know that was an established concept, but I had just been meditating on my own and had this instinct that I needed to "be like the ocean." And I've been slowly feeling out what that is like.
What a lovely picture. It really does capture that sense of oneness and limitlessness!! Love it
